In the year 2008 a new format was born besides the already established iXS Downhill Cup, the main goal was to provide an opportunity for male and female junior riders to gather first experiences in racing downhill. The young riders, from the early age of eleven on, are able to participate and have therefore the opportunity to slowly grow into racing and get more comfortable what will put them ahead of future competitors. Some great talents have already used this chance in the past to kick start their career. The most famous example surely is Vali Höll (AUT), who step by step made her way to the top and is now considered one of the most promising female talents in the UCI Downhill World Cup. This outstanding career proofs, that Rookies Cup races are an ideal platform to prepare for a successful entry into Pro racing.

The upcoming season again offers six race events in its schedule, which will happen in a consistent manner, this is based upon the feedback and wishes of the Rookie parents and will therefore take place at familiar venues. The Junior series was hosted in many different places during the last decade of its existence. The versatile mixture of race tracks in the 2020 calendar appears to be perfect, since it provides a huge variety of tracks, from short to long distances, from steep to flat sections and easy to difficult track profiles are being offered as scenery for the different competitions.

To spice the familiar concept up a little more, we are happy to announce that one of our future title sponsors will be RockShox. The suspension specialist enters the scene to advice upcoming talents and will offer technical support with great commitment. At the first event in Winterberg, RockShox provides a service support pit on a professional level to share their experience with the youngsters and get their suspensions to perform perfectly on track.

Of course Specialized stays on board, due to their massive contribution over the last three years the „Specialized RockShox Rookies Cup“ became probably the most successful talent factory in Downhill Racing.

And of course, last but not the least: iXS – they are fare more than just a sponsor, since this company has supported several different Downhill racing series over the last 20 years and therefore has paved the way for today. This amazing fusion of several big players from the mountain bike industry is another guarantee for the series’ success and quality.
