In previous years, it was already necessary for non-licensed athletes to take out additional insurance cover via the former ÖRV Bike Card. This has now been replaced by the new Cycling Austria Member Card. It offers comprehensive basic insurance cover, which is valid worldwide when practicing cycling and cycling.
Prices of the Austrain Member Card
For Austrians, membership costs 49 euros for one year. People who have their main residence in another European country and are in Austria as a guest can purchase the Cycling Austria Member Card Guest. This costs 65 euros. So if you want to take part in the races of the PROPAIN Rookies Cup, iXS Downhill Cup and the iXS International Rookies Championships in Saalbach, Königsberg, Lienz and Schladming, you must either have a license or purchase the Austrian Member Card. The more races you ride in Austria, the cheaper it gets per race. There is also a Family Card for 69 euros or 95 euros for non-Austrians, which insures several members of a family.
Please note: The Austrian Member Card will only become valid on the day after registration. This means that you must register one day before the first training session.

Get a license!
At this point, we would like to point out that it is much cheaper to have a license from your respective cycling federation and thus have insurance cover for all races, whether in Austria or in another country, via the license. We introduced the hobby classes as open classes many years ago specifically for this purpose, so that you are no longer assigned to a class on the basis of a license, but can also race in the hobby class as a license holder. This is not an advertisement for the federations, but definitely one for obtaining a cycling license.
Participation from non-European countries
Unfortunately, the solution offered by the Austrian Member Card lacks an option for participants from non-European countries. This certainly plays less of a role in the Rookies Cup or DHC, but a considerable number of participants from other continents take part in the iXS International Rookies Championships in Schladming Dachstein. All these riders need a license from their cycling federation.
